Who it suits

It is usually bought for anyone who wants current hardware without a contract and people upgrading from an older handset.

Background

A phone is the device most people replace least often and use most, so the specification that matters is the one you will still be happy with in two or three years — storage and battery far more than headline processor speed. Against the other 407 smartphones we list, this one sits around the middle of the range at R4 460, with most falling between R249 and R23 389.

Points to check

• Look at the specification you will still care about in two years, not only the one that matters this week.
• Confirm the model supports the network bands you use before ordering, particularly if you move between providers.
• Check the exact model and variant against what you own before ordering, as compatibility is usually model-specific.
