Most customers choosing this are after people upgrading from an older handset and anyone who wants current hardware without a contract.

Worth knowing

A phone is the device most people replace least often and use most, so the specification that matters is the one you will still be happy with in two or three years — storage and battery far more than headline processor speed. Against the other 407 smartphones we list, this one sits around the middle of the range at R8 996, with most falling between R249 and R23 389.

Before you order

• Battery capacity matters more than headline speed for most people. A phone that lasts the day beats one that benchmarks well.
• Look at the specification you will still care about in two years, not only the one that matters this week.
• If you are unsure whether this suits your setup, ask us before ordering rather than after.
