Who it suits

It is usually bought for moving large files between machines and backups and extra capacity.

Background

Storage is judged on interface, sustained speed and endurance rather than capacity alone. A drive that is fast in bursts is not the same as one that is fast under load. Against the other 482 storage drives we list, this one sits towards the upper end of the range at R15 371, with most falling between R319 and R11 565.

Points to check

• Where a listing offers several configurations, the difference is usually memory or storage rather than the core hardware.
• If this is replacing something you already own, check the two are actually compatible rather than assuming.
• Compare this against the other options in the range before deciding, since the closest alternative is often a better fit.
• If you are unsure whether this suits your setup, ask us before ordering rather than after.
• Check the exact model and variant against what you own before ordering, as compatibility is usually model-specific.
