Who this is for

It is a sensible fit for moving large files between machines and backups and extra capacity.

Some context

Storage is judged on interface, sustained speed and endurance rather than capacity alone. A drive that is fast in bursts is not the same as one that is fast under load. Against the other 482 storage drives we list, this one sits around the middle of the range at R1 757, with most falling between R319 and R11 565.

Worth checking

• Read the specification rather than the headline — the number in the title is rarely the one that decides the fit.
• If this is replacing something you already own, check the two are actually compatible rather than assuming.
• If you are unsure whether this suits your setup, ask us before ordering rather than after.
• Look at the specification you will still care about in two years, not only the one that matters this week.
• Confirm the variant matches the one you need; near-identical model codes often differ in one specification that matters.
