A good fit for

This storage drive suits backups and extra capacity and moving large files between machines.

How to think about it

Storage is judged on interface, sustained speed and endurance rather than capacity alone. A drive that is fast in bursts is not the same as one that is fast under load. Against the other 482 storage drives we list, this one sits towards the upper end of the range at R38 836, with most falling between R319 and R11 565.

What to confirm

• Read the specification rather than the headline — the number in the title is rarely the one that decides the fit.
• Confirm the variant matches the one you need; near-identical model codes often differ in one specification that matters.
• Check what is included in the box, as bundled cables and adapters vary between models and regions.
• Look at the specification you will still care about in two years, not only the one that matters this week.
• Check the exact model and variant against what you own before ordering, as compatibility is usually model-specific.
