A good fit for

This printer suits home offices and small businesses and households that print occasionally.

How to think about it

Running cost matters more than purchase price on printers. The cartridge or toner economics over a few years usually dwarf the difference between two models on the shelf. Against the other 1656 printers we list, this one sits towards the upper end of the range at R9 420, with most falling between R1 244 and R22 382.

What to confirm

• Compare this against the other options in the range before deciding, since the closest alternative is often a better fit.
• If this is replacing something you already own, check the two are actually compatible rather than assuming.
• Where a listing offers several configurations, the difference is usually memory or storage rather than the core hardware.
• Read the specification rather than the headline — the number in the title is rarely the one that decides the fit.
• Confirm the variant matches the one you need; near-identical model codes often differ in one specification that matters.
