It is usually bought for people upgrading from an older handset and daily personal use.

Background

A phone is the device most people replace least often and use most, so the specification that matters is the one you will still be happy with in two or three years — storage and battery far more than headline processor speed. Against the other 407 smartphones we list, this one sits around the middle of the range at R13 240, with most falling between R249 and R23 389.

Points to check

• Where a listing offers several configurations, the difference is usually memory or storage rather than the core hardware.
• If this is replacing something you already own, check the two are actually compatible rather than assuming.
• Compare this against the other options in the range before deciding, since the closest alternative is often a better fit.
