Who it suits

It is usually bought for anyone replacing an ageing laptop and people who need a portable main machine.

Background

A laptop is a set of compromises between speed, battery life, weight and screen size. There is no configuration that wins on all four, so the useful question is which of them you are willing to give up. Against the other 4139 laptops we list, this one sits towards the upper end of the range at R25 806, with most falling between R3 609 and R41 862.

Points to check

• Match the processor to the work: light office and browsing needs far less than video editing or compiling.
• Check the exact model and variant against what you own before ordering, as compatibility is usually model-specific.
• Confirm the variant matches the one you need; near-identical model codes often differ in one specification that matters.
