Who this is for

It is a sensible fit for daily personal use and anyone who wants current hardware without a contract.

Some context

A phone is the device most people replace least often and use most, so the specification that matters is the one you will still be happy with in two or three years — storage and battery far more than headline processor speed. Against the other 407 smartphones we list, this one sits around the middle of the range at R7 435, with most falling between R249 and R23 389.

Worth checking

• Check what is included in the box, as bundled cables and adapters vary between models and regions.
• If this is replacing something you already own, check the two are actually compatible rather than assuming.
• Look at the specification you will still care about in two years, not only the one that matters this week.
