Google Smart TV Kit (home Mini & Chromecast) Charcoal

Google Smart TV Kit (home Mini & Chromecast) — a media streamer, available to order online from ElectroGuy for delivery across South Africa.

What you get

• Brand: Google
• Condition: New

Who it suits

It is usually bought for households that stream more than they broadcast and turning an existing TV into a smart one.

Background

A media streamer is the cheapest way to modernise a TV that still has a good panel, and it is usually faster than the smart software built into the set. Against the other 30 media streamers we list, this one sits towards the affordable end of the range at R1 195, with most falling between R1 195 and R7 435.

Points to check

• Read the specification rather than the headline — the number in the title is rarely the one that decides the fit.
• Where a listing offers several configurations, the difference is usually memory or storage rather than the core hardware.
• If this is replacing something you already own, check the two are actually compatible rather than assuming.
• Compare this against the other options in the range before deciding, since the closest alternative is often a better fit.
• If you are unsure whether this suits your setup, ask us before ordering rather than after.
