Who it suits

It is usually bought for people upgrading from an older handset and daily personal use.

Background

A phone is the device most people replace least often and use most, so the specification that matters is the one you will still be happy with in two or three years — storage and battery far more than headline processor speed. Against the other 407 smartphones we list, this one sits around the middle of the range at R13 372, with most falling between R249 and R23 389.

Points to check

• Look at the specification you will still care about in two years, not only the one that matters this week.
• Check what is included in the box, as bundled cables and adapters vary between models and regions.
• Confirm the variant matches the one you need; near-identical model codes often differ in one specification that matters.
• Read the specification rather than the headline — the number in the title is rarely the one that decides the fit.
