• Condition: New

Who it suits

It is usually bought for a second charger for work or travel and replacing a lost or failing charger.

Background

Charging speed is set by the weakest link in the chain: charger, cable and device all have to support the same standard for the advertised figure to apply. Against the other 79 chargers we list, this one sits around the middle of the range at R1 195, with most falling between R309 and R4 175.

Points to check

• If this is replacing something you already own, check the two are actually compatible rather than assuming.
• Look at the specification you will still care about in two years, not only the one that matters this week.
• Where a listing offers several configurations, the difference is usually memory or storage rather than the core hardware.
• Match the wattage to the device. Under-powering a laptop charger means it charges slowly or not at all under load.
• Check the connector type and whether the cable is included, as many chargers are sold without one.
