ATEN 8-Port Cat 5 KVM Switch (KH1508A)

ATEN 8-Port Cat 5 KVM — a hub or dock, available to order online from ElectroGuy for delivery across South Africa.

What you get

• Brand: Aten
• Model / MPN: KH1508A
• Condition: New

Who this is for

It is a sensible fit for desk setups running several peripherals and laptops short on ports.

Some context

A hub shares one connection between several devices, so total bandwidth is finite. What the host laptop supports sets the ceiling, not the hub. Against the other 266 hubs and docks we list, this one sits towards the upper end of the range at R7 275, with most falling between R319 and R16 514.

Worth checking

• Read the specification rather than the headline — the number in the title is rarely the one that decides the fit.
• Where a listing offers several configurations, the difference is usually memory or storage rather than the core hardware.
• Compare this against the other options in the range before deciding, since the closest alternative is often a better fit.
• Check the exact model and variant against what you own before ordering, as compatibility is usually model-specific.
• Look at the specification you will still care about in two years, not only the one that matters this week.
