ATEN 16-Port Cat 5 KVM Switch (KH1516A)

If you are shopping for a hub or dock, the ATEN 16-Port Cat 5 KVM is one of the options we stock.

The details

• Brand: Aten
• Model / MPN: KH1516A
• Condition: New

Who it suits

It is usually bought for desk setups running several peripherals and laptops short on ports.

Background

A hub shares one connection between several devices, so total bandwidth is finite. What the host laptop supports sets the ceiling, not the hub. Against the other 266 hubs and docks we list, this one sits towards the upper end of the range at R11 339, with most falling between R319 and R16 514.

Points to check

• Look at the specification you will still care about in two years, not only the one that matters this week.
• Display output over a hub depends on what the host machine supports, not only on the hub itself.
• If you are unsure whether this suits your setup, ask us before ordering rather than after.
• Check what is included in the box, as bundled cables and adapters vary between models and regions.
• Where a listing offers several configurations, the difference is usually memory or storage rather than the core hardware.
