Who this is for

It is a sensible fit for people who need a portable main machine and work and study.

Some context

A laptop is a set of compromises between speed, battery life, weight and screen size. There is no configuration that wins on all four, so the useful question is which of them you are willing to give up. Against the other 4139 laptops we list, this one sits towards the upper end of the range at R47 404, with most falling between R3 609 and R41 862.

Worth checking

• Screen size drives portability more than weight does. A 16-inch machine is a desk machine in practice.
• Compare this against the other options in the range before deciding, since the closest alternative is often a better fit.
• Memory is the specification most people under-buy. It is also the hardest to change later on thin machines where it is soldered.
