Who it suits

It is usually bought for people working long hours at a screen and desk setups and multi-screen work.

Background

A monitor outlasts most of the machines plugged into it, so it is worth buying slightly above your current needs. Panel quality and adjustability age better than resolution alone. Against the other 773 monitors we list, this one sits towards the affordable end of the range at R2 697, with most falling between R1 814 and R27 692.

Points to check

• Look at the specification you will still care about in two years, not only the one that matters this week.
• Where a listing offers several configurations, the difference is usually memory or storage rather than the core hardware.
• Panel type affects colour and viewing angle more than resolution does for everyday work.
• Check the stand adjusts the way you need, or whether it takes a VESA mount for an arm.
• Refresh rate matters for gaming and smooth motion; for text and office work, resolution matters more.
