Worth knowing

A laptop is a set of compromises between speed, battery life, weight and screen size. There is no configuration that wins on all four, so the useful question is which of them you are willing to give up. Against the other 4139 laptops we list, this one sits towards the upper end of the range at R50 564, with most falling between R3 609 and R41 862.

Before you order

• Check the port selection against what you actually plug in, and whether you will need a hub on top.
• Match the processor to the work: light office and browsing needs far less than video editing or compiling.
• Memory is the specification most people under-buy. It is also the hardest to change later on thin machines where it is soldered.
• Where a listing offers several configurations, the difference is usually memory or storage rather than the core hardware.
