Who this is for

It is a sensible fit for anyone replacing an ageing laptop and people who need a portable main machine.

Some context

A laptop is a set of compromises between speed, battery life, weight and screen size. There is no configuration that wins on all four, so the useful question is which of them you are willing to give up. Against the other 4139 laptops we list, this one sits towards the upper end of the range at R47 960, with most falling between R3 609 and R41 862.

Worth checking

• Confirm the variant matches the one you need; near-identical model codes often differ in one specification that matters.
• Screen size drives portability more than weight does. A 16-inch machine is a desk machine in practice.
• Where a listing offers several configurations, the difference is usually memory or storage rather than the core hardware.
