It is usually bought for people who need a portable main machine and work and study.

Background

A laptop is a set of compromises between speed, battery life, weight and screen size. There is no configuration that wins on all four, so the useful question is which of them you are willing to give up. Against the other 4139 laptops we list, this one sits towards the upper end of the range at R38 759, with most falling between R3 609 and R41 862.

Points to check

• Confirm the variant matches the one you need; near-identical model codes often differ in one specification that matters.
• Read the specification rather than the headline — the number in the title is rarely the one that decides the fit.
• Screen size drives portability more than weight does. A 16-inch machine is a desk machine in practice.
• Match the processor to the work: light office and browsing needs far less than video editing or compiling.
