Most customers choosing this are after people who need a portable main machine and anyone replacing an ageing laptop.

Worth knowing

A laptop is a set of compromises between speed, battery life, weight and screen size. There is no configuration that wins on all four, so the useful question is which of them you are willing to give up. Against the other 4139 laptops we list, this one sits towards the upper end of the range at R34 428, with most falling between R3 609 and R41 862.

Before you order

• Compare this against the other options in the range before deciding, since the closest alternative is often a better fit.
• Screen size drives portability more than weight does. A 16-inch machine is a desk machine in practice.
• Look at the specification you will still care about in two years, not only the one that matters this week.
