Who it suits

It is usually bought for people comfortable working inside a case and a PC build or an upgrade.

Background

Components have to match the rest of the build. Socket, chipset, power draw and physical clearance decide compatibility before performance ever comes into it. Against the other 552 PC components we list, this one sits towards the affordable end of the range at R1 871, with most falling between R1 443 and R26 486.

Points to check

• Read the specification rather than the headline — the number in the title is rarely the one that decides the fit.
• Where a listing offers several configurations, the difference is usually memory or storage rather than the core hardware.
• If this is replacing something you already own, check the two are actually compatible rather than assuming.
• Compare this against the other options in the range before deciding, since the closest alternative is often a better fit.
• If you are unsure whether this suits your setup, ask us before ordering rather than after.
